Status: Part-Time
Schedule: Minimum of four shifts per month with flexible scheduling
Clinic Hours: Standard clinic hours are 8:00 AM–8:00 PM, seven days a week

Compensation: Physicians receive an hourly rate for all clinic hours worked, in addition to a monthly stipend for each APP they supervise.
Additional Compensation: Monthly stipend for each APP supervised - $500.00 for all full-time and $250.00 for all part-time Physician Assistants supervised

Position Summary

NextCare is seeking a part-time Physician to join our urgent care team in Marble Falls, Texas.

This opportunity is ideal for a physician who values flexibility, clinical autonomy, and the ability to make an impact both through direct patient care and the ongoing support of Advanced Practice Providers.

The position requires a minimum of four shifts per month, with flexibility in scheduling and the opportunity to pick up additional shifts when coverage is needed. Monthly schedules are released in advance, and there are no routine after-hours charting or follow-up responsibilities.

In addition to working clinically, the physician will provide supervision and prescriptive delegation for the full-time equivalent of up to seven Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants. A monthly stipend will be provided for each APP assigned to the physician for supervision.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages in an urgent care setting
  • Manage acute illnesses, injuries, and occupational health visits
  • Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including labs and imaging
  • Perform urgent care procedures such as suturing, splinting, and wound care
  • Clearly communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
  • Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the EHR
  • Code and bill services appropriately
  • Maintain productivity consistent with urgent care benchmarks
  • Practice in alignment with NextCare clinical standards and values

APP Supervision Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical supervision and prescriptive delegation for the full-time equivalent of up to seven APPs
  • Remain available for clinical consultation by phone, email, or virtual communication
  • Complete required chart reviews and supervision documentation
  • Provide feedback, coaching, and clinical guidance to assigned APPs
  • Support escalated or complex clinical questions as needed
  • Partner with medical leadership, operations, credentialing, and compliance teams
  • Maintain supervision and delegation requirements in accordance with Texas Medical Board regulations

The supervision component is intended to be a collaborative and active oversight role. The physician will receive a monthly stipend for each APP supervised.

Required Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted Texas medical license
  • MD or DO degree
  • Board certification or board eligibility in Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or a related specialty
  • Active DEA license or ability to obtain
  • Ability to treat patients of all ages
  • Active BLS certification
  • EHR proficiency
  • Willingness to work occasional weekends and holidays
  • DOT certification or willingness to obtain; associated fees are covered
  • Willingness and eligibility to provide supervision and prescriptive delegation for APPs in Texas

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior urgent care, emergency medicine, or fast-track experience
  • Previous experience supervising Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants
  • Strong procedural skills, including suturing, splinting, and wound care
  • Experience with initial X-ray interpretation before radiology over-read
