Description

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Interviews incoming patient or representatives and enters information required for admission into computer database. They also enter information from other facilities, which include specimens, etc.
  • Ensures patient demographics, insurance coverage, and authorizations requirements are collected to the best of his or her ability based on patient condition
  • Responsible for providing patients or representatives with information about billing, complaint process, patient rights and responsibilities and visiting hours. Distributes hospital specific literature in a timely and correct manner
  • Being familiar with hospital services available with regard to payment arrangements, such as referring patient to correct employee at business office when payment arrangements are necessary
  • Helping in starting the financial analysis procedure, along with system notations when necessary
  • Responsible for collecting payments for self-pay patients and copays from patients with insurance
  • Explains consent forms, privacy notices, and registration documents to patients during the registration process
  • Resolves registration issues and insurance issues in a timely manner
  • Maintains accurate records and documentation
  • Coordinates with clinical staff, physicians’ offices, insurance companies, and other pertinent staff when needed

  • Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and Joint Commission regulations related to their department and, as appropriate, to the hospital
