Description

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive physical and psychosocial assessments for assigned patients.
  • Complete admission assessments within 8 hours and shift assessments within 2 hours.
  • Complete outpatient assessments prior to initiation of treatment.
  • Document all assessments in appropriate systems.
  • Demonstrates ability to apply patient/family education principles through assessment, instructions, evaluations and documentation.
  • Monitor patient condition and identify changes in status; intervene appropriately and escalate when necessary
  • Assess, manage, and document patient pain using approved pain management techniques. Educate patients and families on pain management strategies.
  • Identify, prioritize, and address patient care problems based on assessment findings.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement realistic, measurable care plans
  • Implement, document, and evaluate nursing interventions consistent with the plan of care and clearly document all actions
  • Administers medications and IV fluids following established policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates proper use of patient care equipment / pumps.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of dosage, route, action, side effects, contraindications, and adverse reactions of medication.
  • Executes provider’s orders in accordance with policy.
  • Appropriately utilizes/operates all equipment required to provide nursing care to assigned patients.
  • Practice within scope of licensure and perform ongoing patient assessment and reassessment and consult appropriate healthcare team members when needed and seek guidance for unfamiliar tasks
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the office manager or provider.

  • Completes annual educational requirements within the assigned time frame.
  • Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and Joint Commission regulations related to their department and, as appropriate, to the hospital.
