Description

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review the charts of patients undergoing an imaging procedure and reports pertinent history, labs, allergies, and other pertinent medical history/values to the attending radiologist.  
  • Assists with scheduling image guided procedures.  
  • Place IVs in any and all modalities, draw for laboratory tests, look up results on imaging procedure patients and report them to the attending radiologist.  
  • Place urinary catheters when needed for imaging procedures.  
  • Documents baseline vitals prior to imaging procedures.  
  • Monitor cardiac stress patients when necessary.  
  • Monitor and document condition of pre and post-procedure patients.  
  • Makes confirmation calls to patients pre-procedure and follow-up calls to patients post-procedure.  
  • Assists with transport and hand-off communication

  • Knows the limitations of their license/certifications and does not practice outside these limitations.  
  • Maintains cleanliness of equipment and department  
  • Responsible for the safe handling of equipment as well as maintaining safety for themselves.  
  • Knows the proper procedure for calling codes and the proper response for each code according to department protocol (i.e. fire, lock down, infant abduction, bomb threat, etc.)  
  • Knows the proper procedure for reporting incidents involving the patient, visitor or employee.   
  • Knows where to find MSDS information when needed.  
  • Is aware of hazards and hazardous materials and how to maintain a safe environment.
