Sub Food Service Worker - School Division

About the Role:

The Sub Food Service Worker in the School Division plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of school cafeterias by ensuring that nutritious meals are prepared and served efficiently to students and staff. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe food service environment while adhering to all health and safety regulations. The role requires flexibility to work in various school locations as a substitute, stepping in to support regular food service staff during absences or peak periods. The Sub Food Service Worker contributes to creating a positive dining experience that promotes healthy eating habits among students. Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
• Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States. 
• Able to supply required back round clearances such as Criminal, Federal and Child Abuse.

Preferred Qualification

• Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with students and staff.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts including mornings and afternoons.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation and serving of meals according to established menus and portion sizes.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas in compliance with health and safety standards.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, slicers, and dishwashers.
• Stock and replenish food and supplies as needed throughout the day.
• Follow all food handling and safety procedures to prevent contamination and ensure food quality.
• Support cafeteria staff by performing various tasks such as dishwashing, cleaning, preparing and serving food.
• Adapt quickly to different school environments and schedules as a substitute worker.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, and supervisors to ensure smooth food service operations.
