Job DetailsJob Location: Main Campus - Marietta, GA 30060Position Type: Full Time StaffJob Category: EducationUnder general direction, the Academic Advisor is responsible for implementing a relationship-based Academic Advising model that reflects best practices and optimal support for students. Promoting a holistic and unified approach to academic advisement and academic success is the primary priority for the Academic Advisor. Academic Advisors are responsible for outcomes-driven efforts in academic advising, including but not limited to retention, progression, and graduation. Academic Advisors also serve as mentors for Academic Advisors. Essential Job Functions Follows the University advising model/plan to meet the needs of undergraduate, graduate, and professional students in on-ground and online programs. Answer questions from new and returning students regarding courses, registration process, and general advisement. Maintain accurate and appropriate information regarding caseload, and term to term management of that case load. Maintain check-in communication with current caseload and update communication in CRMAdvise. Collaborate with staff of the Registrar's Office, Admissions, Student Engagement, New Student Orientation, and Academic Learning Center as needed to contribute to students' smooth integration and transition to graduation. Assist with and coordinate administrative holds on registration. Provide timely data and reports as requested and directed. Contact and schedule appointments for new students to be advised. Work on-call to assist students without appointment. Audit new student academic plans to ensure students are selecting the correct classes. Mentor new academic advisors. Aid staff in supporting student needs as necessary within the department. Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.   Additional Duties And Responsibilities Exhibits student centeredness in performance of all job duties. QualificationsEducation, Training and/or Experience Master's Degree in College Student Personnel, Counseling or related field. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to effectively use computer programs software (Microsoft Office Suite), hardware and presentation programs. Ability to maintain a courteous and professional attitude in stressful situations. Ability to perform assigned duties with frequent interruptions and time pressures. Ability to analyze and resolve routine and crisis situations. Certifications, Licenses, registrations None. Preferred Qualifications 1 year experience in academic advising at the collegiate level. Experience working with unique student populations. Experience facilitating first-year and academic success courses at the college level. Working knowledge of Datatel Colleague platform. Bilingual. Physical Demands Nature of work requires an ability to operate standard business office equipment. Requires ability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and prepare work documents, set-up and maintain work files. Must be able to lift 25 lbs., retrieving and placing materials on high shelves and on floor-level shelves; standing, walking, carrying, grasping, hearing, seeing, sitting, kneeling, climbing, balancing, stooping, crouching, and reaching. Working Conditions Work performed in an office environment. Some travel may be required. May require availability for overtime hours during peak periods.
