Job Summary
Designs and executes strategy for Data Governance, Data Quality, Master Data and Information management. CDO responsibilities include leading the data governance framework, data standards and policies, and managing the organization's data quality needs. CDO's role also serves as a trusted partner to key business leaders focused on delivering technologies, tools, approaches, and methodologies to unlock the value of enterprise data assets of the organization.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Establishes and leads the Data Governance framework. Organizes and implements policies, procedures, structures, roles, and responsibilities that outline and enforce rules of engagement, decision matrix, and the accountabilities for the effective management of the organization's data assets. Serves as an advisor on enterprise requirements, monitoring, and governing of the organization's data.
- Establishes data policies, standards, organization, and enforcement of Enterprise Information Management concepts. Oversees the process for collection, storage, management, quality, and protection of data. Define data quality standards. Monitor and report on data quality standards compliance. Manages data transformation through an effective change management process.
- Partners with technology leaders to setup a master data management platform using various tools to streamline and simplify the capture, integration, and availability of business critical data. Improve user access to data while ensuring data protection and privacy.
- Collaborates with business and technology leaders in the design, development, and execution of data strategy and roadmap to drive optimal data architecture, proactively identify data, insights, and data quality opportunities that support business priorities and drive improved business results. Promote data democratization, data literacy, and a DataOps culture companywide.
- Maintains working knowledge of the Bank's written policies and procedures regarding data audit and regulatory needs. Leverages a network of industry professionals to stay current on emerging trends and continually bring best practices to execution. Drive enterprise digital transformation innovation, cost reduction, and revenue generation by actively supporting critical business initiatives.
- Develops or collaborates to create high performing team focused on building strong data strategy, research, and business engagement. Recruits, manages, and coaches a team of data stewards/owners and leaders to data strategy projects. Takes personal initiative and is a positive example for others.
- Follows and complies with all Bank policies and procedures, applicable regulatory requirements, and completes all required annual or job-specific training. Remains up-to-date regarding changes to regulations.
- Maintains working knowledge of the Bank's written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security and other applicable regulations.
- Communicates findings and recommendations clearly and concisely for management. Continually looks at the environment to challenge current assumptions around new sources of data, research, potential data partners, tools, and talent.
- Manages the annual performance management and merit processes for direct and indirect reports. Coaches and develops team members and builds a work environment where team members are engaged and feel a positive sense of achievement about their role in the company. Works closely with Human Resources regarding employee relations, compensation, training, posting and filling vacant positions and other Human Resources related matters.
- Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.

Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Math, Engineering, Data Science or other related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum Experience:
- 15 years of experience with data management and data architecture design, tools, and methodologies; information technology systems and tools; leading business critical initiatives across the organization; and collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Firm understanding of bank profitability drivers and customer behaviors leading to profitable relationships
- Ability to develop multi-year implementation roadmaps and project plans
- Ability to guide senior executives with leveraging data to improve business outcomes
- Ability to consult with executives to identify initiatives, execute data projects, and ensure effective use of Data insights
- Ability to recruit, lead and coach data analysts and other data professionals

- Advanced degree
