This role assesses staff education needs; develops, coordinates, and evaluates education programs; and uses data, quality outcomes, regulatory findings, and evidence-based practice to improve staff competency and patient care. The Specialist supports orientation, onboarding, competency validation, continuing education, regulatory readiness, and professional development while partnering with nursing leadership and interdisciplinary teams. This position demonstrates the Memorial Health System Standards of Excellence and maintains strict confidentiality at all times.score: N/A   Job Functions: Leads and supports the education program for Women and Newborn Services in alignment with department goals, quality outcomes, patient safety needs, regulatory requirements, and evidence-based practice. Develops, coordinates, supports, and evaluates education programs, skills days, simulation activities, competency validations, specialty courses, and required training programs. Supports orientation, onboarding, preceptor development, annual and ongoing competency validation, remediation, continuing education, and professional development for staff. Uses education, competency, quality, and feedback data to improve education plans and address gaps. Partners with nursing leadership to plan education priorities, track progress, and support practice improvements. Serves as a clinical education resource, mentor, coach, consultant, and subject matter expert for staff, preceptors, leaders, physicians, students, and interdisciplinary partners. Collaborates with Clinical Informatics, Information Technology, Human Resources, organizational education departments, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to support education related to practice standards, documentation, workflows, and technology changes. Develops, updates, and standardizes educational materials, competency tools, orientation resources, policies, procedures, workflows, checklists, and quick-reference tools. Maintains required education, competency, certification, training, and compliance records and follows up with staff and leaders as needed. Participates in quality improvement, patient safety, regulatory readiness, mock survey, corrective action, committee, and workgroup activities as assigned. Maintains required licensure, certifications, education, and competencies; assumes other duties as assigned to support departmental operations, patient safety, regulatory compliance, education effectiveness, and staff development. Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary. QualificationsMinimum Education/Experience Required: Current Licensure in the State of Ohio as a Registered Nurse required. Master's Degree in Nursing, Education, Healthcare Administration, Informatics, or related healthcare field required. Minimum of five (5) years of clinical healthcare experience required. Minimum of three (3) years of Clinical experience within a women and newborn unit required. Education, staff development, clinical educator, or competency management experience preferred.  BLS certification required.
