Overview
Joby Aviation is seeking an experienced aircraft maintenance leader to serve as a Maintenance Supervisor supporting our General Aviation aircraft fleet. The responsibilities in this role combines hands-on aircraft maintenance and inspection responsibilities with people leadership, team development, and operational coordination. The Supervisor manages daily hangar operations, ensures fleet airworthiness, and leads a team of technicians in a safe, efficient, and dynamic environment.
The ideal candidate is safety-driven, highly organized, adaptable, and comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This position is based in Marina and may require domestic travel.
Responsibilities
- Manage, build, and develop a team of aircraft maintenance technicians; provide guidance, performance feedback, and technical mentorship
- Maintain airworthiness of assigned aircraft, performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, and inspections in accordance with company procedures, maintenance manuals, and FAA regulations
- Conduct maintenance sign-offs and return-to-service approvals. Complete all required documentation accurately in accordance with established company and FAA procedures
- Coordinate daily maintenance operations, logistics, and site readiness with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Oversee aircraft modifications, instrumentation installation, disassembly, reassembly, packaging, and shipping activities
- Perform and oversee aircraft launch and recovery operations, pre- and post-flight ground support activities, and the maintenance/operation of ground support equipment
- Uphold rigorous standards for safety, cleanliness, and organization to maintain a showroom-quality hangar environment. Ensure the team works in accordance with established operating procedures, company policies, and regulatory requirements
- Participate in Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP) and support domestic maintenance launch efforts, special projects, and additional maintenance programs as assigned
Required
- Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate
- 5+ years of relevant aircraft maintenance and inspection experience, including experience with advanced aircraft systems
- 1+ years of demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in an aviation environment
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, maintenance manuals, and technical documents. Proficiency with electronic equipment, hand tools, and precision measuring equipment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; basic computer skills and familiarity with maintenance documentation systems
- Willingness to work extended hours and travel domestically as required to support fleet operations. Must possess a valid passport with no travel restrictions
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Demonstrated proficiency in reading and speaking English.

Physical Requirements
- Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day
- Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands
- Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee, and reach above/below shoulders
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds
Desired
- FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) certificate
- Experience leading maintenance teams or coordinating field maintenance operations
- Experience managing aircraft logistics and onsite operational support
- Familiarity with electronic aircraft maintenance management (ERP) systems
- Part 135 maintenance experience
- Specific airframe/engine maintenance experience: Cessna 208, Robinson, Cirrus, and/or Rotax systems
Additional Information
Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $123,000-$155,000. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
