Job Summary: 

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations, managing hourly production employees, and ensuring production goals are met while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. This role serves as a critical link between management and the production floor, coordinating resources, scheduling workflows, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. 

Duties/Responsibilities 

  • Coordinate and schedule plant resources based on customer demands and volume specifications; ensure daily shipments are available or in process as scheduled
  • Prioritize, schedule, and delegate work assignments to hourly production employees; meet production schedules and quality goals
  • Ensure implementation of and compliance with management systems; collaborate with quality and environmental objectives
  • Monitor safety, quality, and productivity in production areas
  • Review scrap levels and implement action plans for productivity and quality improvements (CARS)
  • Directly supervise hourly production employees – conduct training and performance review, participate in interviews, and facilitate disciplinary actions
  • Advise management of production issues and recommend solutions 
  • Communicate with technical resources (Maintenance, Engineering) to maintain operations 
  • Participate on cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and cost reduction
  • Input and review weekly labor hours; coordinate with HR to ensure accurate payroll (ADP & SAP)
  • Ensure completion of required documentation and maintain departmental housekeeping standards
  • Identify and communicate production supply shortages 

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop hourly production teams with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with manufacturing processes, production scheduling, ERP systems (SAP), and payroll systems (ADP)
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, quality management systems, and environmental compliance standards
  • Thorough understanding of workplace safety regulations (OSHA) with ability to identify hazards and ensure compliance
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback, conduct performance evaluations, and work effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and detail-oriented with strong work ethic and commitment to continuous improvement
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field preferred

Physcial Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the production facility (up to 10 hours per shift)
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds occasionally 
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and lighting conditions
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, and hearing protection as needed 

This is a salaried exempt position with flexible scheduling; however, the role requires coverage during a 12-hour window Friday through Sunday, along with availability for departmental meetings and occasional weekday commitments. For example, 10am-10pm Friday-Sunday
