American Wood Fibers (AWF) is a manufacturer of both consumer and industrial products that are sold to multiple manufacturers as well as pet, agricultural, and home-heating markets. AWF is comprised of 450+ employees and holds operations at 11 locations, generating over $100M in annual sales revenue. We are currently seeking a candidate for the 3rd Shift Supervisor role in our Marion, VA facility.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

PLANT OPERATION

  • Ensure that the plant is meeting the needs and demands of the customers
  • Ensure that the staffing is adequate and working on the proper task
  • Ensure that the SOP’s are followed and products are produced, packaged, and shipped as needed
  • Ensure that all plant personnel are properly following all procedures, including the use of any required PPE/safety-related device
  • Help facilitate training (operational, task, safety, etc.)
  • Direct the workforce in the plant (system operation), packaging, and warehouse
  • Confer with other supervisors and communicate with peers, subordinates, and management in a professional manner to assure assignments are being properly completed
  • Supervise loading and unloading of trucks and completion of paperwork
  • Verify incoming shipments – completing a daily inventory count and production report

ADMINISTRATION

  • Ensure that all paperwork is completed accurately in a timely manner
  • Support the monthly inventory cycle as directed
  • Ensure that any discipline need is discussed with the Plant Manager
  • Implement new policies as needed
  • Verify accuracy of time detail for payroll and monitor attendance

SAFETY

  • Help ensure the safety of all plant personnel
  • Implement new policies and procedures to improve the safety and condition of the plant
  • Ensures that all employees are provided the proper PPE and utilize it as required
  • Supports the plant with cleanup plans, assessments, and audits
  • Supports the implementation of new systems to maintain and improve upon the safety culture of the plant

OTHER DUTIES

  • Develop key initiatives that reduce costs and improve the operation
  • Work shifts and times as needed to meet customer demands (including OT)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in manufacturing, general labor, or packaging goods
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Physical capability to bend, squat, or stoop
