SCM is seeking a talented TIG/MIG Welder/Fabricator to join our team on 2nd shift. A qualified candidate will, under general supervision, weld various types of metal parts, frames, and machined assemblies. This position reports to the Fabrication Supervisor.


Job Skills to include:

  • Reading and interpreting engineering prints and/or manufacturing bills of material, and/or verbal/written instructions to determine necessary requirements for the job.
  • Select welding procedures best suited for the type of work and materials involved.
  • Use various techniques to obtain proper penetration, fusion and strength, offset distortion and maintain alignment.
  • Assemble/weld parts in jigs or fixtures as required. 
  • Use appropriate measuring tools to inspect and verify conformance of parts to specifications/tolerances.
  • Strictly follow all safety requirements for welding, forklift truck, hoist operations and housekeeping. 


Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge of metallurgical aspects of various types of material.
  • Must be a team player, enthusiastic, motivated, and self-driven.
  • Regular attendance and daily punctuality are required.
  • High School diploma or GED. Technical school welding certification training preferred.
  • Ability to read mechanical engineering drawings.
  • Brake Press experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of various grinding/weld finishing tools.
  • Sufficient physical strength to lift various materials weighing 50 pounds.
  • Knowledge of precision measuring procedures.
  • Good organizational skills.
