JOB SUMMARY

A mechanic assistant, also known as a mechanic helper, is an entry-level position. This role involves assisting experienced mechanics with a variety of tasks related to machinery and mobile equipment maintenance and repair. 

 

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Comply with Eco Material Technologies’ safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist experienced mechanics with inspecting machinery and mobile equipment to identify mechanical issues.
  • Assist with performing routine maintenance tasks on machinery and mobile equipment.
  • Assist with performing repairs machinery and mobile equipment.
  • Help keep the work area clean and organized including sweeping floors, organizing tools and equipment, and disposing of waste materials.
  • Learn from experienced technicians and gain valuable hands-on experience.
  • May assist with other parts of the plant operation.
  • Regular attendance, timeliness, and scheduling flexibility.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 

  • Basic mechanical knowledge and hand and power tool proficiency 
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and adhere to company safety standards 
  • Ability to read and follow policies, procedures and instructions.
  • Must be able to take direction from manager and experienced mechanics.
  • Must have problem-solving abilities, manual dexterity, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with various levels of the organization. 
  • Adaptable and willing to learn and work in a team
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and other pertinent operating systems.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

The employee should have the following:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Vocational or technical training certificate or associate’s degree in related field a plus
  • 0-1 years' experience in a relevant field.

 

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee should possess the ability to:

  • Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable
  • Withstand exposure to temperature extremes inside or out 
  • Prolong standing or in stationary position 
  • Complete repetitive movements
  • Bend and/or twist 
  • Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions
  • Must tolerate an environment with inside ambient temperatures.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision and hardhat protection, safety shoes etc.)
