POSITION TITLE: Supervisor- Recreation Activities聽

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

DEPARTMENT: 聽Woodfords Community Council

SUPERVISOR: Woodfords Community Council聽

GRADE: NE9 $17.83 ($37,103.24) - $26.75 ($55,654.76)

Position Summary:

Under direct supervision the Supervisor of the Recreation Activities is responsible for carrying out administrative office duties for the Community Council; coordinates community activities; maintains community building(s) and park grounds. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

路 Plans, and implements recreation activities.

路 Monitors after school program activities.

路 Plans and implements community events and council meetings.

路 Responsible for all reports, calendars, and community notifications of planned events.

路 Oversees daily operations at the community center.

路 Ensures community center is operational for planned events daily.

路 Oversees the summer recreation program including directing activities, planning, budgeting, training youth staff, and implementing activities individually or in collaboration with other departments/communities.

路 Performs or delegates all maintenance duties including vehicle maintenance.

路 Ensures adequate building set up takes place for events.

路 Prepares monthly reports for review by the Community Council.

路 Assists in food preparation or serving for events.聽

路 Responsible for representing the community at board meetings, annual conferences, and other related meetings.

路 Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

聽聽

Minimum Qualifications:

路 High School Diploma or GED and two years experience in leading or directing activities,

events, or programs of which included supervision; or equivalent combination of education and experience.聽

路 Must possess and maintain a valid California or Nevada driver鈥檚 license or capable of obtaining one within thirty-days (30) of employment.聽

路 Must be able to be insurable by the Tribe鈥檚 Driving Policy.聽

路 Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation.

路 Preference to Qualified Native American Indians will be given.聽

Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications:

路 Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.

路 Knowledge of business English, proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and basic arithmetic.

路 Knowledge of records management and basic accounting procedures.

路 Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, principles and practices used in current management and administrative organizations.聽

路 Ability to establish and maintain record of community inventory, all administrative files and records to plan and operate a budget.

路 Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with Tribal officials, community residents, community officers, and the general public.聽

路 Ability to organize, coordinate, and evaluate a wide variety of youth activities, and community programs and events.聽

路 Physically able to perform any and all duties related to the repair of community buildings and/or park facilities.

路 Ability to communicate effectively in the English language both verbally and in writing.

路 Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.

路 Ability to represent the organization in a professional manner, building respect and confidence.

路 Ability to maintain confidentiality.

路 Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

路 Ability to carry out instructions furnished in verbal or written format.

路 Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

路 Ability to demonstrate excellence in everything, and continually seek improvement in results.

路 Skill in operating business computers and office machines, including in a Windows environment, specifically Word, Excel, Access, and presentation software (such as PowerPoint).

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit and stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment:

Work is generally performed in an office setting with a moderate noise level.聽

The Washoe Tribe of Nevada & California requires a background check of each new hire for employment purposes. Therefore, all conditionally offered positions will be subject to the following:

  • Meet requirements of Public Law 101-630
  • Obtain or possess a valid driver鈥檚 license for either the state 聽聽聽聽聽of Nevada or California within 30 days
  • Must be insurable under the Washoe Tribe鈥檚 driving policy聽
