The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, development, testing, and release of embedded systems (both hardware and software) for new and existing medical devices.
Â
- Design, implement, test, verify, and release embedded software for new products, and updates to legacy products.
- Design and test schematics, and assist with PCB designs for new products, and updates to legacy products.
- Debug, integrate, and test embedded designs at the system level.
- Document software in accordance with applicable medical device development standards (e.g. software requirements/design specifications, verification & validation protocols)
- Support design verification/validation testing of new designs, and updated legacy designs.
- Support transfer of new designs or updated legacy designs to production, including development of test fixtures/procedures.
- Support and interact with other departments, including R&D, technical support, field service, and manufacturing.
- Support system compliance efforts when necessary
Education requirements
- BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering
Experience requirements
- 3+ years of work experience in embedded medical systems software and hardware
- Schematic design using Altium, and/or Orcad
- Experience with Analog/Digital/mixed signal circuit design
- Prior experience with ARM-based Microcontrollers (Cortex-M/A series preferred) and firmware development in C/C++
- Prior experience with RTOS (CMSIS2 / RTX) is considered a strong plus
- Prior experience with FPGA firmware development (Verilog or VHDL) is considered a strong plus
- Practical experience with communication protocols SPI, I2C, CAN, RS232, Ethernet
- Working knowledge of Python for developing data acquisition tools, automated test frameworks, and validation workflows is preferred
- Familiarity with design verification and validation (V&V) processes, including test planning and execution
- Transferring of new designs to production, including development of test fixtures/procedures
- Product development in a regulated ISO 13485 environment
