The Generator Technician IĀ is responsible forĀ providing on-site repair, equipment preventive maintenance, and ability to assist with installation. This position will require up to 50% travel.Ā 

Major ResponsibilitiesĀ Ā 

  • Perform technical skills including but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, troubleshooting and repair of generators.Ā 

  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of generators both during normal working hours and after-hours, weekends and holidays as directed.Ā 

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance service and/or repairs of generators.Ā 

  • Read and interpret operational manuals, electrical schematics, universal generator literature, and work orders to perform required maintenance and/or repairs.Ā 

  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report them and any other unusual situations to the service managerĀ in a timely mannerĀ 

  • Stay current on National Fire Protection Association and State regulations for Emergency Power Supply Systems.Ā 

  • Create reports for all work performed in FieldServio.Ā 

  • Communicate report findings through but not limited to phone calls, emails and in person communication.Ā 

Minimum Job RequirementsĀ 

EducationĀ 

  • High School DiplomaĀ 

Certification / LicenseĀ 

  • Valid Driver LicenseĀ 

Work ExperienceĀ 

  • 1 year of mechanical experienceĀ 

Knowledge / Skills / AbilitiesĀ 

  • Working knowledge of mechanical design, AC and DC circuitry, power generation, wiringĀ schematics, and connection diagramsĀ 

  • Working knowledge of Engine maintenance and troubleshooting of natural gas fuel systems.Ā 

  • Knowledge of power generation; light tower, pumps, and heating productsĀ 

  • Working knowledge of diesel or gaseous enginesĀ 

  • Moderate troubleshooting skills, the ability to make independent decisions, and work with minimal supervision.Ā 

  • Working knowledge of transfer switch operationsĀ 

  • Ability to obtain andĀ maintainĀ Generac certification in the air-cooled and protector series coursesĀ 

  • Ability to work and communicate well with othersĀ 

  • Ability to provide detailed reports within 24 hoursĀ 

  • Ability to manage and respond to emails, texts, and phone calls in a safe andĀ timelyĀ mannerĀ

Physical Requirements and Working ConditionsĀ 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to use hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls; and to talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to walk, stoop, crouch, bend and reach above shoulders. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance, waist high, up to 10 feet away. This job's specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be working in the typical conditions of a manufacturing environment, including seasonal variations in temperatures and occasional exposure to manufacturing fumes or byproducts. The employee must comply with the assigned location PPE requirements, including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, appropriate gloves, clothing, and shields for required tasks, and closed-toed or safety shoes as required by facility safety policies. The employee must be able to work in varying weather conditions including extreme heat, snow, and ice. The employee may be required to obtain a DOT Medical Card and have the ability to drive a heavy-duty truck on a daily basis.Ā
