Position Summary
Working under the direction of Scientific Production Engineers, scientists, and other engineers; R&D and Production Technician performs advanced hands-on optical and electro-optical assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and basic R&D activities.

Primary Responsibilities
- Assemble, align, calibrate, and test high-performance laser and optical amplifier products units, including prototype builds and R&D support.
- Perform precision fiber-optic assembly, fusion splicing, and optical alignment.
- Carry out optical and electrical testing, standard and custom measurements.
- Troubleshoot equipment and product issues and assist engineers with failure analysis and root-cause investigations.
- Record and analyze test data and maintain accurate production and laboratory documentation.

Requirements

Education:
- Associate degree or technical certificate from an accredited technical school or college in Electronics, Photonics, Optics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a closely related technical field. Equivalent relevant hands-on technical experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Experience:
- 2–4 years of relevant experience in fiber optics, photonics, lasers, electronics, optical systems, or related R&D/manufacturing environments.
- Hands-on experience with fiber-optic assembly, fusion splicing, optical testing, laser characterization, and troubleshooting is strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and follow engineering drawings, technical procedures, schematics, and test specifications.
