How you'll contribute

A Unit Clerk who excels in this role will:

  • Performs administrative/clerical duties in support of an assigned area.

  • Greets patients and visitors. Answers, screens, and routes telephone calls. Calls codes, pages, and overhead

  • announcements as requested.

  • Enters nursing requests subject to the approval of a licensed nurse. Asks for clarification when necessary.

  • Assists with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges. Assembles and maintains patient records and

  • charts.

  • Performs needed clerical tasks, including copying, filing, and ordering/stocking supplies.

  • Assists RNs and physicians with other patient activities as needed.

  • Assist with orientation and training of personnel and students.
  • Participates and attends meetings as required and/ or assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

What we are looking for:

It is preferred that applicants have a high school diploma or equivalent. Years of relevant experience may be substituted for required education. Additional requirements include:

  • 6 months as unit clerk or similar role

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. 

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

  • Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)

  • 1 year in healthcare (Preferred)
