We are currently seeking a full-time Groundskeeper to join our team, specifically focused on working with seniors. The ideal candidate must be able to efficiently perform grounds and light maintenance duties in an effort to maintain a clean and attractive property on a daily basis.

Providence Community Housing is a 501(c)3 nonprofit affordable housing developer and property manager serving the Greater New Orleans area. With almost 20 years of development experience and over 1,700 residential units developed to date, Providence has taken over the property management functions of Christopher Homes, Inc. and is proud to add their 60-year history of excellence to our team managing over 2,400 senior affordable apartments. We focus on the production and preservation of affordable housing and empowering strong communities.

A typical day in the life of a Groundskeeper working with seniors involves, but not limited to overseeing both resident apartments and property maintenance needs; Check all grounds, buildings, parking lot, and front sidewalks for cleaning; Check all lights and replace light bulbs when needed; Responsible for using all supplies cautiously, wearing protective gear such as gloves, eyewear, etc.  Every day brings new opportunities to make a positive impact on both residents and staff, creating a safe, welcoming environment for seniors to call home.

We're looking for a candidate who:

  • Has a passion for working with seniors and creating a positive, supportive environment
  • Is detail-oriented with strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Is reliable and adaptable
  • Able to assist the maintenance staff with other duties such as make ready(s), etc.
