Laboratory ManagerMarshalltown HospitalDepartment: LaboratorySchedule: Full Time | 40 Hours per Week | 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.

 

Join our laboratory leadership team and help shape the daily operations, quality, and continued growth of laboratory services at Marshalltown Hospital. The Laboratory Manager works closely with the Laboratory Director to support a collaborative, high-performing team committed to accurate, timely, and compassionate patient care.

 

In this role, you will combine operational leadership with team development, quality improvement, and relationship building. You will serve as a trusted resource for laboratory staff, hospital leaders, clinical partners, and others who rely on laboratory services.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily laboratory operations, staffing priorities, and resource allocation.
  • Lead, coach, and support team members through regular communication, feedback, and professional development.
  • Promote a culture of quality, safety, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain compliance and inspection readiness in accordance with CAP, CLIA, and other applicable standards.
  • Review operational, quality, productivity, and financial data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain laboratory policies, procedures, training programs, and department goals.
  • Partner with physicians, nursing teams, hospital leaders, and external stakeholders as a laboratory subject matter expert.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, performance management, engagement, and retention efforts.
  • Lead department initiatives and help the team successfully navigate operational and organizational changes.
  • Provide hands-on support with specimen collection, processing, or testing when needed.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution

Experience:

  • Clinical laboratory experience

License(s)/Certifications:

  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician OR Medical Laboratory Scientist OR Medical Laboratory Technician
