General Summary: This position is a collaborative and results-oriented attorney who has strong leadership, communication, organization, and interpersonal skills, drives cross-functional projects and teams, and works independently in a fast-paced business environment handling matters across a variety of disciplines. This position requires a combination of general commercial contracts, name, image, and likeness licensing, supply chain, regulatory, advertising, marketing, IP, privacy and litigation experience. This position reports to the Senior Counsel on a small legal team with exposure to all aspects of the business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Provides legal counsel on a wide range of matters, including contract management, name, image, and likeness licensing, sports licensing, regulatory, compliance, privacy, risk management and other general legal matters. 
  • Provides legal advice to ensure the Company’s licensing activities, safety and regulatory policies, marketing, brand, and concept initiatives, sales, loyalty, and pricing practices, and website, social media channels, and other Internet activities all comply with applicable laws, rules, regulations and guidelines.
  • Drafts, reviews, redlines and negotiates a wide variety of contracts and agreements (sponsorship agreements, athlete and ambassador agreements, license agreements, supply agreements, SaaS and miscellaneous service provider contracts and statements of work).
  • Together with the legal team, manages contracts and contract lifecycles including template development, maintenance, management and roll-out, handling contract execution and internal filing and tracking, together with all phases of the contract management processes.
  • Supports the Company’s intellectual property strategies and initiatives, including the Company’s robust global trademark and patent portfolios, copyright matters, clearance, prosecution, and enforcement initiatives.
  • Supports in-house aspects of litigation matters.
  • Develops organizational policies on industry-specific issues, corporate governance and regulatory affairs.
  • Researches broader legal issues and consults with internal and external subject matter experts when necessary.
  • Builds relationships across the business units and with leadership stakeholders.
  • Advises on employment matters.
  • Actively identifies legal issues that affect the Company’s products and services and communicates with business units as appropriate.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Law degree from an accredited law school and a member in good standing of the state of Missouri. 
  • A range of 0-2 years as a practicing attorney with in-house corporate legal department experience required, preference to candidates with sports licensing, consumer product and manufacturing experience. 
  • Relentless attention to detail with the ability to process and execute multiple tasks simultaneously, ensuring completion of individual tasks without close supervision. 
  • Strong organizational, researching, issue-spotting, analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Top candidates will be deep creative thinkers with a keen ability to navigate “getting to yes” by empowering the business to execute according to company-wide goals, all while mitigating legal and corporate risk and risk to revenue. 
  • Proven dependability and flexibility regarding time management, work assignments and deadlines.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills.
