Job Purpose

Lead and manage the safety, environmental and engagement / morale activity in the Quality Division that focuses on an incident free environment and assures compliance with implementation of pro-activity for sustainment. They will lead division activities related to safety, environmental and engagement / morale along with investigations, analysis, and countermeasures, with reporting to management on related activity.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the safety program within Quality Division as the division’s safety expert. Complete safety audits & weekly safety checks, conduct safety training, and support job hazard analysis (JHA) activities. Investigate safety incidents (OSHA, first aids, near misses), implement countermeasures, report findings to management, and maintain records. Set direction for countermeasure activities for any problems found.
  • Lead Quality Division Engagement / Morale activities. This includes supporting round tables, capturing associate voice, and other related activity. Work with Q Division leadership and lead all activity to address concerns raised by associates.
  • Environmental lead and expert for Quality Division. This includes chemical training (onboarding, approval) and audit support. Implement and lead any projects from Regional Office environment.
  • Lead safety, environmental, and engagement/morale business planning to identify top problems within Quality Division and work with plant Cross Functional Leaders (CFLs) to develop business improvement strategies. Develop related KPIs to ensure Q Division is aligned with company goals.
  • Create and report all business plan reporting for Safety, Environmental and Engagement/Morale. Present reports and PDCA results to Q Division leadership.
  • Represent Quality Division in plant Cross Functional Leadership Meetings for Safety, Environmental and Engagement/Morale.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Associate Degrees in a Safety related field; or equivalent relevant experience
  • 2-6 years of similar work experience. Primarily in Safety; secondarily in Environmental management
  • Experience with interpreting and applying OSHA, general industry, HDMA safety regulations and guidelines. 
  • Strong self-motivation, management skills, problem solving and root cause analysis skills. 
  • Capable of leading, mentoring and teaching others

Working Conditions

  • Work at the spot, in the factory
  • 70% Office environment, 30% Production Floor environment
  • About 2 weeks of travel domestic and international and 200 hours of OT annually
