Job DetailsJob Location: Maryville, IL 62062Position Type: PRN (12 Hours)Salary Range: $20.00 - $33.66 HourlyJob Shift: DaysJob Category: Business ProfessionalJob Summary: Responsible for the assignment of ICD-10 CM, ICD-10PCS codes to the record of patients treated at Anderson Hospital. These records can include Inpatient.   Job Responsibilities: 1. Reviews the medical record for selection of the principal and all secondary diagnosis and principal and all secondary procedures. 2. Works with the medical staff should there be any clarification needed regarding a complete and accurate medical record to support the code assignment. 3. Utilizes coding software to select the appropriate diagnosis and procedure code numbers. 4. Maintains AHIMA Ethical code of Behavior. 5. Works with internal and external auditors. 6. Participates in educational process, reading of support references and newsletters to keep abreast of coding changes. 7. Works with other departments, especially clinical areas to maintain awareness of the impact of their work on the coding process. 8. Maintains coding quality and productivity per department standards. 9. Creates coding summary. 10. Works with the PI technician in the transfer of records required to accomplish all peer review activities.  11. Maintains knowledge of medical necessity as it pertains to their coding responsibility 12. Maintains knowledge of state and federal regulation to assure accuracy of coding QualificationsEducation Requirements and Other Requirements: Education level: Associate Degree or higher Certification/Licensure: RHIT, RHIA, or CCS preferred Experience Requirements: Hospital experience using ICD-10 and CPT preferred
