Job DetailsJob Location: Maryville, IL 62062Position Type: PRN (12 Hours)Salary Range: $16.00 - $24.75 HourlyJob Shift: VariesJob Category: Clinical-TechnicalJob Summary:  Provides continuous observation of patient cardiac telemetry monitors and notifies nursing staff and/providers of any changes in cardiac rhythms. Identify and document patients’ cardiac rhythm and any variances in rhythm. Serves as an important part of the care team.     Job Responsibilities: Continuously observes patients’ cardiac rhythms and provides immediate notification of changes as per the cardiac rhythm notification algorithm.  Identifies and documents patients’ cardiac rhythm every four hours or per provider order.  Recognizes lethal arrhythmias and alerts the appropriate emergency response staff.  Ensures alarm parameters are turned on and set appropriately for each patient.  Troubleshoots monitor alarms and identify non-actionable artifact signals appropriately;  discards artifact notifications from alarms each shift.  Performs basic care of monitoring equipment as required and interacts with the Biomed Department regarding maintenance and repair. Ensures telemetry box batteries are changed each shift or as needed. Gives and receives report on all patient rhythms. Verify presence of a telemetry order and the indication for the order in electronic medical record for each patient.  Measures, identifies, and sends rhythm strips to the electronic medical record every 4 hours and/or any arrythmia alarms during the shift. Responsible to perform tasks within scope of educational preparation, knowledge and facility procedures and guidelines. Reviews and correlates the correct assigned telemetry box/number to the patient that is documented. Notifies the unit’s charge nurse for any discrepancy. Notifies ICU/IMU Charge Nurse when reporting on and off duty Maintains confidentiality.  Maintains a safe environment  Supports patient’s rights and responsibilities, including respect of cultural, ethical, and religious diversity. Adheres to standard precautions and infection control standards. QualificationsEducation Requirements and Other Requirements:                   Education Level: High school diploma or equivalent   Experience Requirements:  Experience as a Cardiac Montior Technician preferred. Prior experience as a Certified Nurse Aid/Patient Care Technician preferred but not mandatory.    Must successfully complete Cardiac Monitor Technician education course and pass competency exam with a score of 88% or higher.  Must pass annual competency exam with a score of 88% or higher.
