Job Description:

 

The Associate Manager, Procurement will lead and oversee the daily execution of general procurement operations with responsibility for supervising the expediting team while also maintaining a reduced individual buyer order placement workload. This role is responsible for leading, directing, and reviewing the work of procurement professionals to ensure near-term operational objectives are achieved and departmental priorities are met.

The ideal candidate will communicate effectively within and outside the procurement function to explain policies, practices, and processes, while gaining cooperation from internal stakeholders, suppliers, and cross-functional partners. This position also plays a key role in identifying and implementing moderate to substantial improvements to procurement processes, systems, and solutions in support of operational performance, supplier execution, and customer satisfaction.

 

This leader will establish team goals and objectives that directly impact short-term departmental results and will apply practical knowledge in managing projects, processes, and employees within a procurement environment.

 

Essential Functions:

 

·         Lead, direct, and review the work of the general procurement and expediting team to ensure near-term operational plans, schedules, and performance expectations are achieved.

·         Supervise expeditors, providing day-to-day direction, prioritization, and oversight of workload execution.

·         Maintain a reduced individual buyer workload while balancing leadership responsibilities and supporting continuity of procurement operations.

·         Communicate with internal customers, suppliers, and cross-functional stakeholders to explain, interpret, and gain cooperation on procurement policies, practices, and processes.

·         Drive moderate to substantial improvements to procurement processes, systems, and operational solutions to enhance team efficiency, supplier performance, and overall execution.

·         Analyze complex procurement and expediting issues involving multiple priorities, stakeholders, or functional areas, and develop effective solutions through investigation, data gathering, prior experience, and sound judgment.

·         Establish goals and objectives for the team with direct impact on immediate and short-term operational results for the department.

·         Support talent management activities including providing input on hiring, performance management, promotions, compensation, and development decisions for direct reports.

·         Partner with procurement leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of expediting priorities with program, production, and customer requirements.

·         Manage day-to-day operational elements of team execution, including staffing priorities, workload balancing, and overtime or similar budget-related considerations as needed.

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications:

 

·         Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience. 

·      Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. 

·         In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

·         Prior experience in procurement, purchasing, expediting, supply chain, or supplier management within a complex operational environment.

·         Demonstrated ability to lead work, influence outcomes, and coordinate execution across suppliers, internal customers, and cross-functional stakeholders.

·         Experience improving procurement or supply chain processes, systems, and team performance.

·         Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

·         Ability to manage competing priorities and resolve issues involving multiple stakeholders or functions.

·         Coaching and Mentoring

·         Previous experience providing informal leadership, team coordination, project leadership, or oversight responsibilities is highly valued.
