The Shorebase Crane Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of cranes to load, unload, and move materials within a shorebase facility. This role plays a critical part in supporting offshore operations by ensuring equipment, supplies, and cargo are handled accurately, safely, and in alignment with company procedures.
Responsibilities
- Operate shorebase cranes to load, unload, and transfer cargo, equipment, and materials
- Perform daily pre-use inspections and routine maintenance checks on crane equipment
- Ensure all lifts are conducted safely and in compliance with company policies and regulatory standards
- Communicate effectively with riggers, signal persons, and logistics personnel during operations
- Accurately interpret load charts, lift plans, and weight requirements
- Secure loads properly to prevent shifting or damage during transport
- Assist with general yard operations, including staging and organizing materials
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or incidents immediately
- Follow all safety protocols, including PPE requirements and stop-work authority
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- NCCCO (or equivalent) Crane Operator certification preferred or required based on location
- Previous experience operating cranes in a shorebase, industrial, or oil & gas environment
- Strong understanding of crane load charts and rigging practices
- Ability to work in outdoor conditions and varying weather environments
- Ability to lift, carry, and move materials as needed
- Strong commitment to safety and operational excellence
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Valid driver’s license required
