Description
McGee Corporation is seeking an experienced MIG Welder to join our growing manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have three (3) or more years of MIG welding experience and a strong background working with structural steel, I-beams, and fabricated steel components. This position requires a dependable, detail-oriented individual who takes pride in producing high-quality work while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM Weekend overtime may be required based on production needs.Â
Responsibilities
- Set up column preparation according to job specifications.
- Measure punched holes and verify accuracy against engineering drawings.
- Order required materials from the supply room.
- Cut and install PVC drainpipe within columns.
- Install conduit within columns when required.
- Measure beams to ensure dimensional accuracy.
- Cope or taper beams according to fabrication drawings.
- Check plate inventory as needed.
- Weld web stiffeners to beams.
- Weld end plates to beams according to specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and work orders.
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Work collaboratively with team members to meet production goals.
- Participate in safety meetings and training while maintaining a strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support production operations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of MIG welding experience required.
- Experience welding structural steel and I-beams is required.
- Completion of a formal apprenticeship, vocational training, or equivalent on-the-job training is preferred.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Strong proficiency operating MIG welding equipment and plasma cutting machines.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and fabrication specifications.
- Experience welding steel and aluminum materials preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods while welding and fabricating.
- Ability to climb, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and maintain balance throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to safely perform repetitive physical tasks in a manufacturing environment.
