OR SP Material Specialist

Job Description

OR/Sterile Processing Material Specialist is responsible for the inventory, and workflow processes of materials and support staff to meet the demands of the surgical services and anesthesia departments. Performs and maintains inventory control for surgical services, through data entry, inventory pricing, receiving of supplies, cycle accounting, and completion of purchase requisitions. Coordinates, negotiates, and procures supplies, instruments and equipment for surgical services. Updates and maintains supply and equipment charge information in appropriate information management systems.

Department: Cardiac Cath Lab

Hours: Full-time/ 40 hours per week

Required: HS Diploma; BLS or CPR within 90 days of hire

Pay: Based on experience, starting at $17.79

Responsibilities

Assists Surgical Services with preparation of supply usage projections for operational budgeting purposes.  Obtains and prepares quotations for capital budget in Surgical Services. , Builds and maintains data files in the computer systems. Prepares materials management system requisitions for non-stock supplies and inventory items. Updates and maintains inventory pricing for Charge Description Master patient charge system.  Prepares Charge Description Master report to inform finance department of     any changes, additions, revisions, deletions of inventory items or change in cost of items. , Collaborates with manager on setting departmental objectives, planning equipment needs, designing systems and procedures to meet changing requirements, and evaluation of departmental services.  Maintains, develops and assures adherence to policy and procedures. Supports leadership with accurate data management for budgeting and revenue management.  , Delivers used medication boxes securely to pharmacy for refill.  Handles and maintains security of sealed drug boxes for crash carts., Delivers used medication boxes securely to pharmacy for refill.  Handles and maintains security of sealed drug boxes for crash carts., Manages Surgical Services inventory.  Approves, validates and verifies supplies.  Determines Par Level quantity; defines cart supplies and re-stocking; Maintains daily inventory.  Implements performance improvement and lean management solutions to reduce supply and inventory costs.  Serves as a liaison between Surgical Services and vendors and Materials Management.  Interacts with outside vendors to negotiate and coordinate purchase and consignment agreements for Surgical Services.  Assists with bi-yearly inventories for Surgical Services, Special procedures, and Sterile Processing., Provides recommendations for strategies and resources.  Represents Surgical Services issues on the Value Analysis Committee and attends other committee meetings and task forces when appropriate.
