How you'll Contribute:  
A Recreational Therapist performs structured evaluations and develops a treatment plan in conjunction with primary care counselor using therapeutic, recreational, and leisure activities. 

  • Conducts assessment and establishes recreational therapy treatment goals and objectives to meet the individual needs of patients.  

  • Pre-certifies patient care. Conducts ongoing reviews to authorize continued care.

  • Evaluates each patient's progress and the effectiveness of recreational therapy interventions.  

  • Formulates a goal-directed plan of care in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary treatment team utilizing assessment date from the Interdisciplinary Assessments.  

  • Updates Treatment Plan weekly or more often as needed. Coordinates therapeutic recreation activities for both large and small groups to observe patient response and encourage socialization.  

  • Assists with development of discharge plan in timely and documented standards.  

  • Provides patient and patient's family with information regarding leisure lifestyles and creates an awareness of recreational resources in their community. 

 

What we are looking for:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Recreational Therapy or related field required.  

  • Master’s Degree preferred.  

  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.  

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.  

  • Therapeutic Recreation Specialist Certification. 

  • Current Recreational Therapist license. 

  • BLS required Handle with Care (within 3 months of hire) 

  • One year of experience in Recreational Therapy in a hospital setting preferred, experience in treatment planning and implementation highly desirable.
