Position Summary:Â
A Sonographer under the general guidance of the physicians/providers performs a variety of diagnostic ultrasonographic procedures.Â
Receives patients, explains method of procedure and makes sure patient is comfortable. Â
Provides patient services to all ages using imaging modalities. Â
Operates ultrasound equipment to perform clinical diagnostic ultrasound exams and routine invasive procedures according to established standards and practices. Â
Maintains equipment and supplies and organizes work area. Â
Keeps accurate records, helps with scheduling of the ultrasound and keeps patient flow smooth. Â
Checks the physician's requisition for complete information on the procedure requested' refers any questions to the ultrasound physician before performing the procedure. Â
Assists the radiologist/referring physician in invasive procedures using sterile technique while maintaining infection control guidelines. Â
Recognizes the significance of all structures that are visualized on the monitor and be able to differentiate artifacts from anatomic/pathologic structures within equipment limitations. Â
Possesses an in-depth knowledge of anatomy/physiology, technical expertise and able to improve standard procedures to enhance diagnostic results when needed.Â
Â
What We Are Looking For:Â
Associate’s degree Required. Â
Graduate of approved program of Ultrasound/Sonography or equivalent. Â
ARDMS Registered or if new graduate, must be ARDMS eligible and pass a test in at least one area (i.e. Abdomen, OBGYN) including physics within one year of employment. Â
State license to practice as a Sonographer. Â
