About the Job

The Pathologists’ Assistant (PA) performs gross examination and photography of simple and complex surgical specimens, assists with frozen section workflow, and ensures all grossing is completed according to established standards. This role also supports resident education and provides back‑up assistance for autopsies.

Here's What You’ll Do

• Perform and assist with frozen sections alongside Pathologists, Fellows, or Residents.
• Prepare, triage, and gross surgical specimens in compliance with accreditation standards.
• Teach and support Residents, Fellows, and PA students during surgical pathology rotations.
• Maintain equipment, supplies, and organization of gross room and autopsy suite materials.
• Manage tissue storage, retrieval, and discard.
• Assist with autopsies as needed.

Here's What You'll Need

Required:

• Master's Degree
• Specific Degree: Biologic Sciences; Graduate of NAACLS approved Pathologists' Assistant Program
• May occasionally travel to other hospital sites; MCNL & GMH

Licensure/Certifications

Required: 

• Certified Pathology Assistant (ASCP)
• Other: New graduates Certified Pathologists' Assistant (ASCP) required within one year of hire

Pay Range: $104,000 -133,120 Annualized 

Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
