What you’ll do:

The Child Life and Family Specialist supports the emotional, developmental, and psychosocial needs of pediatric patients and their families throughout the healthcare experience. This role assesses patient and family needs, provides therapeutic play and developmental activities, and prepares children for medical procedures using age-appropriate interventions. Working collaboratively with the healthcare team, the Specialist promotes positive coping, family-centered care, and an optimal patient experience while serving as a resource for patients, families, staff, and community partners.

Key Qualifications

  • Experience supporting pediatric patients and families in a healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of child development and therapeutic play interventions
  • Strong communication, customer service, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to provide procedural preparation and emotional support
  • Commitment to family-centered care and patient advocacy
  • Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team

What you’ll need for this job:  

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 1-2 years of previous job-related experience 

Licensure/Certifications:

  • Required: N/A
  • Preferred:
  • Basic Life Support (CPR)
  • Other: Certification eligible from the Child Life Certifying Committee or Child Life Specialist

Compensation

Pay Range: $20.02- $31.03 per hour

Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
