About the Role:
The Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) plays a critical role in delivering immediate and comprehensive nursing care to patients experiencing acute medical conditions or trauma. This position requires rapid assessment, prioritization, and intervention to stabilize patients and support physicians in emergency procedures. The ER RN collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure efficient patient flow and optimal outcomes in a fast-paced, high-stress environment. Additionally, the nurse provides compassionate communication and education to patients and their families during times of crisis. Ultimately, the ER RN contributes to saving lives and improving patient recovery through expert clinical skills and decisive action.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the United States.
- Completion of an accredited nursing program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Experience working in an emergency or acute care setting is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Previous experience in a high-volume emergency department.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Responsibilities:
- Perform thorough and rapid patient assessments upon arrival to the emergency department.
- Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed by physicians.
- Monitor patient vital signs and condition continuously, recognizing and responding to changes promptly.
- Coordinate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to implement emergency care plans.
- Document all patient care activities accurately and maintain detailed medical records.
- Provide emotional support and clear communication to patients and their families regarding treatment and care plans.
- Assist with emergency procedures such as intubation, wound care, and cardiac resuscitation.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety protocols, and infection control standards.

The ER RN utilizes strong clinical assessment skills daily to quickly identify patient needs and prioritize care effectively. Critical thinking and decision-making abilities are essential for managing complex and rapidly changing patient conditions. Communication skills are employed to coordinate with healthcare teams and provide clear explanations to patients and families under stress. Technical proficiency with medical equipment and electronic health records supports accurate treatment and documentation.
