Under general supervision of Chief Ambulatory Officer, the Nurse Practitioner is responsible and accountable on a 12- hour shift for the delivery of health care to individuals and families of all ages through collaborative practice with the physician using established protocols and policies. The Nurse Practitioner implements the additional roles of advanced practice including researcher, manager, consultant, and educator to benefit and improve the profession, patient, and community. Per protocols/policies examines and treats chronic and acute episodic illnesses, minor injuries, accidents, and other injuries/illnesses. Performs selected laboratory testing, referrals to physicians as needed, writes prescriptions (within legal limitations). The Practitioner/Hospitalist will collaborate with Chief Ambulatory Officer, physicians, staff, patients, to effectively perform job duties. The Nurse Practitioner is responsible to abide by the policies and procedures of the organization as well as all regulatory agencies that provide oversight concerning patient care. Additionally, the Nurse Practitioner is responsible to assist with problem solving efforts in a creative and flexible manner by promoting teamwork between administration, the Chief Ambulatory Officer, and physicians. Must be able to work and relate in a professional, non-defensive manner with all physicians. Will be responsible to document patient assessment and treatment plan as well as diagnostics testing review and follow-up.
