Job DetailsJob Location: Hanover, PA 17331Job Shift: DayHanover Foods Corporation is seeking a First Shift Production Supervisor to oversee operations within our canning facility in Hanover, Pennsylvania. This position provides hands-on leadership to production employees while helping ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality operations.   The Production Supervisor is responsible for coordinating daily production activities, managing staffing and workflow, supporting food safety and quality requirements, developing employees, and working closely with other departments to meet production and customer needs.   Key Responsibilities   * Supervise and provide daily direction to production employees, including staffing, workflow, training, coaching, and performance management. * Plan and coordinate production activities based on production schedules, customer demand, material availability, and inventory requirements. * Monitor productivity, labor utilization, production efficiency, and operating performance and address issues as needed. * Promote a safe work environment through employee training, enforcement of safe work practices, accident investigation, and correction of unsafe conditions. * Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HACCP, food safety, sanitation, plant safety, and applicable regulatory requirements. * Monitor product quality and partner with Quality Assurance to address quality concerns. * Ensure production areas and equipment are maintained in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition. * Train, coach, motivate, and develop employees while clearly communicating job responsibilities and performance expectations. * Administer company policies and corrective action fairly and consistently. * Coordinate with Inventory Control, Purchasing, Shipping, Sales Service, Quality Assurance, and other departments to support production and customer requirements. * Review and approve employee timecard activity accurately and on time. * Ensure compliance with company policies, operating procedures, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement, including participation in the grievance process as appropriate. * Support continuous improvement efforts related to safety, quality, productivity, cost, and employee engagement. * Perform other job-related duties as assigned. QualificationsRequired:   * High school diploma or equivalent. * 3–5 years of experience in production, manufacturing, or a related operational environment. * Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. * Ability to train, motivate, and direct employees in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. * Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound operational decisions. * Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel and ability to learn internal production systems. * Ability to work First Shift, including weekends, extended hours, or alternate schedules when required by operational needs.   Preferred:   * Previous supervisory or leadership experience. * Food manufacturing experience. * Degree in Operations, Food Science, Business, or a related field. * Knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, sanitation standards, food safety programs, and applicable USDA requirements. * Experience working in a unionized manufacturing environment.   Work Environment & Physical Requirements   This position works primarily in a food manufacturing environment and requires regular presence on the production floor. The position involves prolonged standing and walking and may require bending, reaching, climbing, kneeling, and other physical activities associated with supervising manufacturing operations.
