Job Summary:

Operate and maintain assigned equipment to production standards and quality. Participate in and recommend process improvement initiatives, training, and other special projects as identified by the Vice President of Operations.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and interpret job jackets to thoroughly understand the needs of the customer, communicating those instructions to co-workers
  • Perform manual and machine operator tasks related to the set-up, maintenance, and operations of the press
  • Give direction to machine crew through production and down time. Provide leadership when necessary
  • Constantly monitor quality of finished product to ensure customer’s satisfaction – verifying quantity to be printed, stock specifications, colors and special printing instructions
  • Ability to identify visual defects and apply correcting solution to repair defect
  • Responsible for general preventive maintenance and inspection of machine as required
  • Follow all required safety procedures such as: PPE, Ergonomics, etc. Perform job in a manner that protects the health and safety of all employees.
  • Assist with housekeeping in the Press area
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Good mechanical and math skills
  • Technical problem-solving skills
  • 3 years related offset press experience
  • Advanced knowledge in high-volume printing and finishing
  • Graphic Art knowledge is required to regulate the flow of ink, monitor ink density, position on paper and registration and adjust press throughout production run to maintain specific registration and color density

Desired Skills and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with production scheduling
  • Proven ability to contribute to process improvement

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of standing on production floor
  • Must be able to frequently lift, push, pull, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Good visual acuity
