Job DetailsJob Location: McDonough, GA 30253 Job Summary The Transportation Coordinator coordinates the daily transportation activity within the distribution center utilizing the best methods while controlling costs and satisfying customer requirements. Essential Job Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential functions/duty satisfactorily. Supervisory Responsibilities:  Assists or fills in for supervisors as needed; delegates responsibilities coordinated by manager. Operations Schedule all outbound trucks, coordinates with customer service, warehouse, carriers and production. Utilize the most efficient, effective and low-cost transportation to meet the requirements of the customers. Meets with carriers as needed. Tracks and computes freight costs for all less-than-truckload (LTL) and truckload (TL) shipments to ensure that they properly match cost quoted, designating etc. and reconcile any differences. Ensures correct sales order posting on a timely basis with appropriate paperwork completed properly.  Prints sales orders and coordinates shipping as necessary. Performs competitive freight cost analysis regarding point-to-point and state-to-state by customer for all shipments. Accurately processes various reports, paperwork, or other administrative duties such as proof of deliveries, issues daily backorder report, record rates on bill of ladings for accounts payable freight. Must maintain regular and consistent attendance. Additional duties as assigned. Safety Comply with the EHS Policy and applicable regulatory and company EHS rules and requirements. Prompt reporting of any unsafe conditions, practices, or environmental concerns to supervision. Resolving potential hazards swiftly, thereby ensuring a safe work environment for all employees. Attend scheduled EHS trainings. Actively assist the organization in achieving or surpassing EHS goals. Identify areas for improvement in EHS practices and recommend enhancements to contribute to our commitment to a safe work environment. Demonstrates safe work habits by adhering to general safety procedures, including correct techniques for lifting and bending, maintaining proper ergonomics, using equipment correctly, and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Ensures strict adherence to all safety procedures, including the enforcement of Lockout/Tagout (LO/TO) procedures. Product Safety and Quality Follows FDA GMP’s regarding food contact packaging as it pertains to the employee. Practices good housekeeping including clutter-free work area and general cleaning. Follows product safety standards, follows IPC product defense standards, and complies with all SQF requirements. Qualifications Minimum Requirements (include education, experience, special skills, licenses and/or certifications required.) Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must have a working knowledge of bar code systems and applications in a distribution environment, utilizing shipping and receiving functionality.  Must also have a working knowledge of bar code labeling and scanning options. Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, E-Mail, small package shipping systems.
