Technician III - Electrical Safety - Cortland, New York

What are we looking for?

The Technician III is responsible for providing technical expertise to evaluate conformance of wire and cable, household appliances, lighting and general equipment to industry standards, creating evaluation reports and test plans, conducting and/or witnessing testing, resolving technical and/or administrative issues and providing Intertek customers with superior customer service. 

Salary & Benefits Information

The salary range for this position is $25 - $30 per hour. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.

What you’ll do:

  • Read and understand schematics and manufacturing instructions
  • Validate the project scope and sample applicability
  • Under scope of the project, identify and locate test instruments and equipment required for testing
  • Follow established test plan
  • Set up test apparatus
  • Set up and operate equipment being tested
  • Analyze test data and perform routine calculations
  • Prepare technical reports
  • May make recommendations regarding technical decisions relating to the interpretation and applicability of test standards
  • Following Intertek Service Delivery Model communicate project status and test results to client, sales personnel, and management throughout testing
  • Provide support to sales or other departments as required
  • Performing other work as required

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 3 years of relatable experience
  • A valid driver's license and reliable driving record
  • Ability to travel, up to 15%
  • Ability to utilize basic shop equipment and various hand tools
  • Ability to review, understand, and convey technical information in an effective manner
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs. 

 

 Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Trade school certification or associate's degree in technical field
  • 5 years of relatable experience
  • OSHA safety certification
  • Intermediate knowledge with Microsoft Office
