About the Position:

The Summer Materials Management Internship is a temporary, full-time position designed for high school students interested in exploring careers in healthcare operations. This position provides structured, firsthand experience in purchasing, inventory control, and supply chain support within a rural healthcare environment.

As part of the Summer of Healthcare Internship Program, the intern will work under the supervision of the materials management team and collaborate with multiple departments across a critical access hospital and rural health clinic. The internship emphasizes learning, professional development, and exposure to healthcare systems while supporting daily operational needs.

What we are looking for:

Currently enrolled junior high school student entering senior year.
Must intend to complete all graduation requirements.
Must reside within or attend a school district in proximity to Riverwood Healthcare.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Basic computer skills required.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with organizational policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist with medical supply management and inventory control activities.
Restock supply rooms and designated storage areas to support patient care.
Support electronic departmental requisitions in accordance with procedures.
Pick and deliver supplies and equipment throughout the facility.
Assist with receiving, unpacking, and stocking incoming freight.
Participate in medical supply outdate monitoring as assigned.
