Environment may be stressful at times, therefore ability to work under stressful conditions is necessary. Lifting up to 50 lbs may be required, anything over 50 lbs should be a team lift or with the use of a lifting aid. As a condition of employment, employees must adhere to: · OCH Code of Conduct · OCH Policies and Procedures · Scope of Practice within License/Certification. · HIPAA and HIPAA Security Confidentiality Standards · Workplace Safety · Mandatory Training · Annual Compliance Education ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Welcome patients, families, physicians and visitors to Ohio County Healthcare either in person or via telephone. • Communicate effectively (both verbal and written) with patients, physicians, and other departments. • Receiving and directing incoming phone calls and faxes to the correct locations, distribution of mail, deliveries and messages. • Patient registration to include but not limited to emergency department visits, scheduled and unscheduled tests, labs and pathologies, etc. • Preregistration and registration of patients. • Register the clinical labs and pathologies that are sent over from clinics and surgery. • Coordination of patient activities within all departments and their staff. • Verifying and obtaining demographic data, insurance information, and completion of mandated forms and paperwork. • Identify insurance coverages and distinguish between primary, secondary and tertiary. • Obtain case in jury information for Workman’s Comp and motor vehicle accident. • Scanning mandated cards, forms and information in patients’ charts, including correct orders. • Retrieving orders from patients, physicians, and emails. • Attends to billing issues as needed and collects payment. • Accepting co-pays when needed and assisting patients with billing issues. • Completes registration process and collects patient demographic information inputting into electronic medical record. • Obtain and verify patient demographic and insurance information. • Scan demographic documents into the patients’ chart in electronic medical record. • Accurately enter or update the required information in the electronic medical record. • Coordination of patient activities with all clinical departments and their staff and assisting all other departments as necessary. • Obtains information from physician’s offices and other resources, if necessary to complete the registration process • Provides federal and state information on the general conditions of admissions, consent, assignment of benefits regarding advance directives, patients’ rights and responsibilities, HIPAA and obtains signed acknowledgements. • Obtain all needed documents and signatures. • Accurately completes the Medicare questionnaire. • Collect co-pays, TOS payments, prepayments and any outstanding balances. • Close out and count cash drawer, complete bank deposit. • Assists in fulfilling daily operations of admitting department and ability to communicate effectively via telephone, email and in person. • Responds to changes in the work schedule as necessary by assisting in other areas of registration when needed. • Maintains proper phone etiquette. • Keep the registration desk and surrounding area stocked with necessary forms and office supplies. • Additional task as assigned by management.QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required for all positions (may be allowed to sign a GED agreement to obtain within 6 months).
