POSITION SUMMARY

Operate Slitter Machine in accordance with production orders, production schedules, and quality standards.


RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Understands instructions given by the Production Manager and follows them accurately. Asks questions when uncertain
  • Reviews and understands the production order and any special instructions. Asks for clarification if required.
  • Sets up and operates Slitting equipment in a safe and efficient manner. 
  • Understands the workflow process and is empowered to develop and recommend new ways to improve the process for quality, efficiency, safety, and communication. Listen carefully to the input of others with an open mind. 
  • Communicates with Material Handlers material requirements to meet production or packaging demands. 
  • While running the slitting equipment, able to load material, set correct blade position, satisfactory run according to work order, complete work order in timely manner. 
  • Clearly communicate workload status with Production Manager and other Team Leaders to coordinate the processes of each area’s responsibility.
  • Able to troubleshoot faults during running. This includes tension, cut quality, rewind quality, and machine problems. 
  • Works in the spirit of Learning. Able to be cross trained on different machines and processes.

  • Verifies the quality of the products will meet or exceed the quality standards of both the customer and Jessup Manufacturing. Able to detect defects in material. Reports on defects to Team Leader. 
  • Calculates all material usage, including scrap, accurately, and neatly and records on work orders. 
  • Labels all finished product with accurate part numbers, work order numbers, lot numbers, customer information, and any other information required to efficiently process the product. Label unused raw material for return to warehouse.

  •  Recognizes existing or potential equipment problems and reports to Team Leader or Production Manager 
  •  Is involved in changes that are improving quality, efficiency, safety, and communication. Listen to the input of others with an open mind. 
  • Suggest process improvements to improve quality, efficiency, safety, and communication. 
  •  Maintains excellent attendance and punctuality according to the JMC employee handbook. 
  •  Follows all safety practices and immediately corrects or reports unsafe conditions. Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
  • Exhibits the Jessup Success Factors while performing the responsibilities. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Team Leader.


 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE 


  • High school or equivalent
  • 3+ years’ experience operating machinery in a manufacturing environment. Slitting experience is a plus. 


 

SKILLS


  • Ability to read and understand production orders and verbal instructions
  • Ability to neatly and accurately record data
  • Ability to calculate basic math problems
  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately
  • Must be able to push, pull, or make other movements to transfer material from one location to other. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. of weight
