Purpose: This full-time 35-hour/week position will be responsible for performing assigned general and specific accounting duties professionally and confidentially, and with a high degree of personal integrity.

 

Essential Job Functions: 

  1. Maintain the general ledger, including reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
  2. Prepare financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  3. Reconcile various bank accounts.
  4. Monitor and track activity related to the Housing Choice Voucher Program.
  5. Maintain fixed asset ledgers by program area, ensuring compliance with GAAP.
  6. Receive, organize, verify, approve, and code vendor payments in accordance with ACHA procedures.
  7. Monitor vendor contracts and ensure proper payment tracking.
  8. Perform financial close-out procedures for vacated tenants and support tenant-related legal follow-up, as appropriate.
  9. Assist with year-end closing processes and annual audit preparation.
  10. Perform additional duties as assigned to support the department’s effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Capable of developing and maintaining internal controls for compliance and reporting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
  • Attendance and Dependability: Consistently reports to work as scheduled and completes assignments accurately and on time.
  • Communication: Communicates clearly and professionally with colleagues, supervisors, and external contacts.
  • Collaboration: Builds and maintains effective working relationships across the organization and with outside entities.

 

Education/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
  • Experience in government or public sector accounting is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.

 

Physical Requirements:  

  • Work is performed in both office and community settings.
  • Must be able to attend meetings or events at various ACHA and community locations.
  • Must be capable of working in environments that may be hot, cold, damp, or dusty.
  • Requires sufficient manual dexterity for operating standard office equipment (e.g., computer, phone, calculator).
  • Must be able to lift and handle small office items such as files, reports, and supplies.
