The Service Supervisor is responsible for supporting front-end operations and ensuring exceptional customer service throughout the store. This position provides direct leadership to cashiers, courtesy clerks, self-checkout attendants, and customer service associates while maintaining efficient operations, controlling service levels, and promoting a positive shopping experience. The Service Supervisor serves as a key member of the store leadership team and assists with daily operational execution, associate development, and customer issue resolution.
Key Responsibilities Customer Service & Store Experience- Deliver outstanding customer service and foster a customer-first culture.
- Actively engage with customers and respond to questions, concerns, and requests in a timely manner.
- Resolve customer service issues professionally and effectively.
- Monitor front-end conditions to ensure a clean, organized, and welcoming environment.
- Promote exceptional service standards throughout all customer-facing areas.
- Oversee daily front-end activities including cashiering, courtesy clerk operations, self-checkout, and customer service desk functions.
- Monitor customer flow and adjust staffing assignments to minimize wait times.
- Ensure registers, self-checkout equipment, and service areas are operating efficiently.
- Support execution of company promotions, loyalty programs, and customer service initiatives.
- Monitor adherence to operational procedures and service standards.
- Provide direction, coaching, and support to front-end associates.
- Assist with training and onboarding new employees.
- Reinforce company policies, procedures, and customer service expectations.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
- Recognize and encourage strong associate performance.
- Ensure compliance with cash handling, register accountability, and financial control procedures.
- Assist with till audits, cash pickups, and balancing activities as assigned.
- Support cash office procedures and operational compliance.
- Monitor front-end transactions for accuracy and compliance.
- Protect company assets through proper operational controls.
- Assist with labor deployment and staffing adjustments based on business needs.
- Support store readiness for promotions, holidays, and special events.
- Communicate operational priorities and service goals to associates.
- Monitor department conditions and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Assist leadership with execution of company initiatives and programs.
- Promote a safe working environment for associates and customers.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Address and report safety hazards promptly.
- Support incident reporting and documentation procedures.
- Ensure associates complete required training and certifications.
- Serve as manager-in-charge when assigned.
- Support store leadership with operational decision-making and problem resolution.
- Help maintain service standards during peak business periods.
- Assist in coordinating daily store activities and priorities.
- Support departmental collaboration to achieve overall store goals.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous retail, customer service, or front-end experience required.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and heavier loads with assistance when necessary.
