MITRE’s Enterprise Business Systems and Operations Division (EBSOD) focuses on delivering and supporting business systems and processes to enable our leaders and employees to deliver impact, make data driven business decisions, and find opportunities.  The EBSOD Data and Integrations team delivers and supports the enterprise data platform, data warehouse, data integrations, and APIs that enable mission-critical business reports, analytics, and system integrations.

Roles & Responsibilities:

The Data and Integration Group Lead/Principal will lead the architecture and delivery of enterprise business system data warehousing and data integration initiatives to modernize (scalable, extensible, reliable, and secure) the organization's data platform to enable reporting and analytics and data integration/exchanges in support of corporate activity.  In addition, they will manage the team responsible for designing, building, and supporting modern data pipelines, data warehouses, and integration services while driving cloud adoption, automation, and engineering best practices – to include hands on development, guidance, and day-to-day direction.

Areas of Responsibility: 

  • Define and execute the roadmap for a modern enterprise data warehouse and data integrations in support of MITRE and Finance vision and strategy.
  • Lead the migration from legacy data platforms to modern, cloud-based data architectures, with minimal business disruption.
  • Direct and oversee the daily design, development, security, and operations of scalable, extensible data warehouses, data lakes, and data integration solutions.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership for the data warehouse team, establishing priorities, removing delivery obstacles, mentoring team members, and ensuring high-quality execution of strategic and operational initiatives – to include hands on delivery.
  • Establish and enforce architectural vision and standards, governance, and best practices for data modeling, ETL/ELT, metadata management, and data lifecycle management.
  • Drive adoption of modern data engineering technologies, including cloud-native services, automation, orchestration, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Partner with business leaders, application teams, Business Analytics, HR, and Enterprise Technology to translate business requirements into data solutions.
  • Ensure data platforms meet performance, reliability, security, compliance, and availability requirements.
  • Oversee vendor relationships, technology evaluations, and implementation of new tools and platforms supporting the enterprise data ecosystem.
  • Promote Agile delivery practices, DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and continuous improvement throughout the data engineering lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity and compliance teams to ensure secure data handling, privacy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Champion innovation by evaluating emerging technologies and recommending improvements to enhance organizational data capabilities.
  • Present architectural strategies, modernization progress, risks, and investment recommendations to executive leadership.

  • Provide technical leadership, coaching, and career development opportunities for team members.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and accountability for project delivery and operational excellence.
  • Build strong partnerships across Finance, HR, Enterprise Technology, business units, and executive stakeholders to align technology investments with organizational priorities.
  • Contribute to organizational change management efforts associated with modernization initiatives and technology transformation.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in data engineering, data warehousing, software engineering, data integration, and/or enterprise data architecture.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience leading technical teams responsible for enterprise data platforms, software engineering, and/or data engineering.
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience leading modernization initiatives, including migration from legacy data platforms to cloud-based data architectures.
  • Experience with modern cloud data platforms and services (e.g., Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)).
  • Proficiency with SQL, Python, and PySpark, Apache Spark, and relational database management systems.
  • Experience with data modeling, metadata management, data governance, and data quality best practices.
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and automated testing.
  • Demonstrated experience in software reuse principles supporting delivery efficiency and security.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives involving business stakeholders, application development teams, enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, and analytics organizations.
  • Experience managing technology vendors, evaluating enterprise software solutions, and supporting technology investment decisions.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex enterprise environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with demonstrated experience communicating technical strategies and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Ability to recruit, mentor, develop, and lead high-performing technical teams while fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any required security clearance, if applicable.
  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise-scale data warehouse and/or data integration solutions.
  • Experience implementing secure, reliable, and highly available enterprise data platforms that meet organizational security and compliance requirements.
  • Experience designing and implementing scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, data integration frameworks, and enterprise data models.
  • Experience with modern data warehouse, data lake, or lakehouse technologies such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, Snowflake, Databricks, Amazon Redshift, BigQuery, or equivalent platforms.
  • Experience supporting enterprise business applications and platforms, including ERP, HCM, CRM, procurement, expense management, and integration technologies.
  • Knowledge of policy and regulations related to government contracting, including Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC).
