Technical Editor II
Level: Journeyman  |  Work Location: Hybrid – McLean, VA

ABOUT THE ROLE
Red Carrot is seeking a Technical Editor II to serve as a final reviewer for technical brochures, research reports, technical summaries, and other highly technical deliverables supporting the customer's research and technology program.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Edit technical brochures, standard operating procedures, research reports, and technical summaries
  • Transform raw data and technical/engineering content into authoritative, publication-ready documents
  • Perform reference checking, fact-checking, and copyright compliance review
  • Integrate complex schematics and data tables seamlessly with narrative text
  • Collaborate with engineers and researchers to distill technical concepts into clear communications
  • Ensure compliance with the GPO Style Manual and agency style guidance
  • Independently manage the full lifecycle of a document from outline to final publication
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, or a related scientific/technical field
  • 3-10 years of experience in technical writing or documentation
  • Transportation sector experience, especially highway and surface transportation, preferred
  • Ability to obtain a USDOT Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credential
