Electrical Engineer

We are hiring an Electrical Engineer in McLeansville, NC to support the design and development of advanced HVDC power systems, power electronics, and undersea communication technologies for mission-critical defense applications. This role requires experience with high-voltage DC power systems, analog and mixed-signal circuit design, power converters, control systems, electrical CAD tools, circuit simulation, and electrical system verification supporting advanced engineering and R&D programs.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop high-voltage DC (HVDC) power systems and power converters ranging from watts to kilowatt-level applications for undersea communication systems.
  • Perform analog and mixed-signal circuit design, simulation, and analysis using advanced electrical CAD and simulation tools.
  • Develop and optimize:
    • Power architectures
    • Grounding strategies
    • Feedback systems
    • Control systems
  • Conduct circuit design, testing, troubleshooting, debugging, and failure analysis at both component and system levels.
  • Utilize laboratory test and measurement equipment, including:
    • Oscilloscopes
    • Spectrum analyzers
    • Electronic diagnostic tools
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including:
    • Specifications
    • Requirements
    • Verification procedures
    • Engineering reports
  • Support research and development (R&D) initiatives focused on power electronics and undersea system technologies.
  • Lead or support engineering design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Participate in requirements analysis, integration, verification, and technical evaluation activities.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities for electrical hardware systems.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law.
  • Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret Clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree with 3+ years of related experience.
  • Experience designing High Voltage DC (HVDC) power systems and power electronics.
  • Experience with analog and mixed-signal circuit design and analysis.
  • Knowledge of power converter topologies ranging from low-power to kilowatt-level systems.
  • Experience with feedback and control systems.
  • Understanding of power system architecture and grounding strategies.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical circuits and performing failure isolation.
  • Experience using electrical CAD tools and simulation software.
  • Proficiency using laboratory test and measurement equipment, including oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers.
  • Familiarity with requirements development and verification processes.
