Summary

CHS has an exciting opportunity at our Oil Refinery facility in McPherson, KS. We are looking for a Process Safety Management (PSM) Specialist to guide and improve process safety activities within the McPherson Refinery. You must be a detail-oriented, results-driven individual with a commitment to quality, accuracy, and ability to organize and prioritize workloads to meet deadlines. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a strong commitment to customer service, ability to gain consensus, and ability to work in a team environment and on self-directed tasks are necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Review Events and employ management system tools, including but not limited to TapRoot, ABS Root Cause Mapping, and other internationally recognized methods, to complete root causal analysis (RCA), identify corrective actions/preventative actions (CAPA), and monitor and measure the effectiveness of the CAPA
  • Facilitate a cross functional team review of recent Events, identified Impacts, and associated organizational risk
  • Track and report Process Safety Performance Indicators including ANSI/API RP 754 Tier 1 – Tier 4
  • Data mine management system tools to successfully report incident statistics to internal and external stakeholders
  • Employ management system tools (e.g., iNet, PRiSM, Enablon, and MAXIMO) to develop and drive Standards, SOPs, Plans, Administrative Controls and Systems targeted to achieve our Operational Excellence Program objectives for establishing industry leading personal safety, process safety, and regulatory compliance programs and their supporting training programs.
  • Assist in the monitoring and improvement of PSM related contractor activities, incident reviews, and policies
  • Employ management system tools and methods, including but not limited to Plan, Do, Check, Act, and other internationally recognized methods, to support continual improvement of CHS Loss Control objectives
  • Support the audit function of a management system using available recognized tools
  • Support IT in the development, implementation, and continual improvement of the tools that support the Integrated Management System
  • Perform other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of experience in Environmental, Health, and/or Safety

Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Occupational Health, Environmental Health and Safety, or related field
  • Proficient in MS Office suite
  • 5+ years of refinery operations experience and/or education/training
  • Working knowledge of applicable Engineering Standards, Specifications, National Codes, and Industry Best Practices applicable to the refining industry
  • Experience with management systems such as OHSAS 18001:2007, ISO 14001:2004, ISO 50001, and/or SixSigma
  • Proficient with PRiSM, Enablon, SAP, and SharePoint

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to wear PPE, including respirator
  • Ability to perform physical work in all weather conditions
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to talk and hear
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, climb, and balance

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
