Summary
CHS has an exciting opportunity at our Oil Refinery facility in McPherson, KS. We are looking for a Field Maintenance Supervisor to ensure the safety, quality, and efficiency of maintenance work execution in the refinery. You must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as the ability to build relationships with vendors and employees at all levels of the organization. A commitment to safety, environment, and teamwork are essential.
Responsibilities
- Supervise Maintenance Craftspeople in the performance of their work, both in the shop and in assigned area in the field.
- Assign jobs to craftspeople and keep advised of work progress.
- Ensure the safety of personnel involved in maintenance work execution & demonstrate a high level of safety values.
- Maintain efficient utilization of labor resources and issued materials.
- Be accountable for the Maintenance backlog and work performed in assigned area of the refinery.
- Oversee and inspect completed jobs to ensure work has been done properly and plant equipment is safe to operate.
- Coordinate with the planning and scheduling department for input on job plans and the work schedule.
- Coordinate with inspection and engineering department for input on repair scope. Determine repair vs replace at component and equipment levels.
- Identify and requisition tools and equipment necessary for Maintenance Crafts to perform their work.
- Ensure tools and equipment used by Maintenance Crafts are maintained in proper working condition.
- Analyze work situations requiring work permits and ensure that proper permits are in place prior to work execution beginning.
- Evaluate course of action in non-routine situations.
- Train and upgrade the skills of assigned personnel; ensure crafts workers and self are familiar with and understand maintenance procedures relevant to that craft.
- Ensure craft workers and you follow established policies and procedures.
- Provide input to preventive maintenance programs and reliability improvement efforts.
- Maintain safe, efficient operations of shop sub-storerooms.
- Coordinate ordering of special machinery parts.
- Function as a cooperative and positive member of a cross-functional team.
- Perform other duties as requested or necessary.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
- 2+ years related refinery mechanical maintenance experience
Additional Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Able to wear personal protective equipment, including respirators
- 5+ years related refinery mechanical maintenance experience
- 1+ years supervisory or team leadership experience
- Working knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Knowledge of Pipefitting and Insulating work practices
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees
- Ability to qualify on all CHS welding procedures that are expected to be performed by department welders
- Knowledge and technical understanding of welding processes, both theoretical and practical
- Knowledge of required welder recordkeeping including individual qualifications, weld quality and overall QC documentation
- Knowledge of industrial coatings and application

Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
