Goodwill is hiring a Material Handler/Back-Up Driver to support our donated goods operations. If you enjoy active, hands-on work, staying organized, and being part of a team that makes a difference in the community, this role is for you!

Essential Duties:

  • Safe driving and handling of vehicles.
  • Must organize and load trucks, safely, neatly and properly.
  • Communicate problems and rejections of donated goods to appropriate supervisor.
  • Move, organize, and stack donated goods, salvage, and waste in warehouse space or in trucks with the use of material handling equipment.
  • Bale salvage materials.
  • Maintains required daily maintenance check and keeps supervisor informed regarding maintenance for any vehicle assigned.
  • Maintains records and logs as required.
  • Maintains appearance, dress, attitude, and actions conducive to good public relations.
  • Keeps vehicles clean and safe.
  • Assists in keeping dock area clear and safe, assist in unloading of trucks and loading trucks.
  • Maintenance duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all safety and security policies as directed by corporate management.
  • Other duties as required by Goodwill.

 

Essential Skills:

  • Must have valid driver’s license and maintain acceptable driving record as required by our insurer.
  • Must be able to drive a 24-26 ft box truck.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong sense of urgency.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Previous material handling experience a plus.
  • Must pass all required certifications.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Must be able to lift 50 pounds in an office and warehouse setting with prolonged lifting and standing. Bending, twisting, pushing, and pulling required. Direct contact with public. Exposure to environmental conditions in all weather.
