Sandvik Coromant is looking for Machinists across 2nd and 3rd Shifts

Location: Mebane, NC

We are looking for a dynamic and results-oriented Machinist to join our team!

Overview:
The Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining both CNC Lathe and/or 5-axis milling equipment to perform precision machining operations. This role ensures production meets key performance indicators while adhering to safety, quality, health, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, operate, and maintain CNC Lathe and/or 5-axis milling machines to produce high-quality components.
  • Perform in-process inspections to ensure products meet specifications and comply with production guidelines.
  • Make necessary adjustments to CNC programs and machine setups; document and report all changes and corrections.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to optimize machining techniques, tooling selection, and programming strategies.
  • Aid in the selection of tooling, jaw requirements, and fixtures for various machining operations.
  • Operate multiple production machines efficiently and safely.
  • Utilize manufacturing reporting systems to track production metrics and maintain accurate records.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience with CNC Lathe and/or 5-axis milling equipment.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of machining principles and CNC programming.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety standards.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
     

Please note the following physical requirements for this role:

Frequent Physical Requirements:

Lifting up to 50 pounds, standing

Repetitive Motion Physical Requirements: 

Typing, eye/hand/foot coordination

Frequent Physical Requirements:

Carrying objects, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, walking

Occasional Physical Requirements:

Sitting, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, kneeling, reaching, handling

Profile

You possess minimum of a High School Diploma or GED. Associate Degree or Diploma from a Technical College or Trade School preferred. Minimum of 2 years of CNC milling experience. Experience with machining and cutting operations required. Knowledge of 5S and lean manufacturing preferred. Domestic travel may be required. Schedule will vary according to department needs; overtime work may be requested.
